Braces are the most common solution for dental realignment for kids as well as for adults – while in the past, braces were used mainly by kids, today more and more adults choose braces to correct their teeth. Though widespread, dental braces are not very cheap, but they come in many different forms and they are not all very high-priced – here are the most common types:
- Metal braces – the most conventional types of braces and also the cheapest, metal braces are composed of wires and brackets installed on the front of the teeth, pushing them back until they reach the desired position. The average cost of metal braces is slightly under $5,000 without insurance, but a lot less with dental insurance;
- Ceramic aligners – these devices are slightly more expensive than conventional metal braces and are the solution preferred by adults looking for a way to have their teeth realigned with less visible brackets. The ceramic brackets used for these aligners resemble the color of the teeth, so they are much less conspicuous, but are still mounted on the front of the teeth;
